Assemblymember Levine Proclaims Holocaust Memorial Week in April 2015

Monday, April 20, 2015

(Sacramento) – Eleven million people were murdered during the Holocaust.  Six million of those slain, were Jews.  California State Assemblymember Marc Levine (D-San Rafael) stood on the Floor of the Assembly to present Assembly Concurrent Resolution 15, which proclaims the Week of April 12th through the 19th, 2015 as “California Holocaust Memorial Week.”  Legislators, Holocaust survivors, liberators and children of survivors joined Assemblymember Levine to honor those who suffered through the Holocaust and to remind people of the atrocities committed by Adolf Hitler and the Nazis.

“For several decades, living memories of the Holocaust deterred anti-Semitic acts of hate,” said Assemblymember Levine.  “However, as the numbers of survivors and those with first-hands recollections of the Holocaust are shrinking, violent acts again Jews are again frequently occurring.”
