Assemblymember Levine Concerned About Homeowner Insurance Reimbursement
(Sacramento) -- A Northern California family's home was partially destroyed by fire. Their homeowners insurance paid a reimbursement check promptly. The problem: the check was made out to the homeowner and the bank that holds the mortgage. The bank won't release the money to the homeowner in a timely manner and the homeowner is in limbo, stuck in a home that's unlivable. California State Assemblymember Marc Levine (D-San Rafael) is concerned that banks are getting in the way of these types of home repairs, leaving homeowners to fend for themselves. Assemblymember Levine is calling for hearings at the State Capitol to look into the matter. KCRA Channel 3 in Sacramento covered the story. Learn more in this Assembly Assets Video.
