Assemblymember Levine’s Marijuana Use for Organ Transplants Patients Bill Becomes Hot Topic

(San Francisco) – In California, patients on the waiting list for organ transplants can get kicked off that list if they ingest or smoke medically prescribed marijuana.   California State Assemblymember Marc Levine (D-San Rafael) believes no one should be denied life-saving care because of doctor prescribed cannabis use to manage pain and nausea.  That’s why he authored Assembly Bill 258.  If enacted, AB 258 would prohibit California hospitals from excluding medical marijuana patients from getting potentially life-saving organ transplants.  KTVU Fox 2 covered the story.  Watch this Assembly Assets Video to learn more.
