SACRAMENTO, CA — Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen announced today that several key pieces of her legislation, including AB 1223, AB 1125, AB 1384, and AB 1172— were officially signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom.
These new laws will make a real difference in people’s lives by improving transportation, strengthening health care access, and ensuring worker protections across California.
Over the past year, Assemblymember Nguyen worked closely with community members and stakeholders to craft practical solutions that address real needs in everyday life.
- AB 1223 strengthens the Sacramento Transportation Authority’s ability to invest in transportation improvements and deliver projects more efficiently.
- AB 1125 extends workers’ compensation for heart-related health issues to all peace officers employed at any of the five California Department of State Hospitals.
- AB 1384 streamlines commercial unlawful detainer hearings, reducing costly delays for property owners and businesses.
- AB 1172 allows trained staff at adult day programs and residential facilities to administer emergency anti-seizure medication, ensuring individuals receive timely care and preventing unnecessary hospitalizations.
“Each of these bills came directly from the voices of the people I represent,” said Assemblymember Nguyen. “They reflect the challenges and ideas shared by community members who simply want safer neighborhoods, stronger services, and more responsive government. I’m proud to see these measures become law because they’re about making everyday life better for Californians.”
These new laws reflect California’s ongoing commitment to building safer, healthier, and more efficient communities for all.
