Assemblywoman Secures Traffic Sign Dedication Honoring the Life of Fallen Detective Vu Nguyen

SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen (D-Elk Grove) alongside Sacramento County Supervisor Patrick Kennedy and Sacramento County Sheriff Jim Cooper will host a traffic sign dedication to honor the life of fallen Sacramento County Sheriff Deputy, Detective Vu Nguyen. Detective Nguyen dedicated a decade of service including seven years with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department and was killed in the line of duty in 2007.

“It is important to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the community,” said Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen, “I am deeply honored to support the Nguyen family’s efforts to dedicate this sign in memory of Detective Vu Nguyen.”

The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the production of a memorial traffic sign that will be installed in the Little Saigon District along Stockton Boulevard, north of 65th street. Family, friends, former colleagues, and community members will gather on Monday, December 18, 2023, to commemorate this special event for the Nguyen family.

“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Supervisor Kennedy, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, and the Sacramento County Department of Transportation who were instrumental in making this event possible,” Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen said.
