Assemblymember Marc Levine (D-San Rafael) released the following statement regarding today’s significant action by the California Department of Public Health to protect the health and safety of residents at the Sonoma Developmental Center by decertifying and moving to revoke approval of the supplemental service of the facility’s Intermediate Care Facility.
“There are currently 290 people with intellectual disabilities who call Sonoma Developmental Center ‘home’,” said Levine. “These people need and deserve the best of care and services and rely on the Center and Intermediate Care Facility staff. I urge the Department of Developmental Services to work with the Department of Public Health to immediately address each and every violation. The State must take actions to assure that the Center remains open and that it meets or exceeds all State and Federal standards.”
