Assemblyman Levine Decries Veterans' Bonus Payback Requirements

Wednesday, October 26, 2016

Assemblymember Marc Levine (D-Marin County), in reaction to the recent news that the Pentagon has asked an estimated 6,500 California National Guard veterans to repay enlistment bonuses they mistakenly received, is calling on the U.S. Congress to fix the situation.

“The repayment of bonuses is ridiculous. I call on Congress to fix this miscarriage of justice immediately,” Levine, the former mayor of San Rafael, said in a prepared statement. “Americans are appalled by this disrespectful demand on veterans who served our country during a time of great need. These veterans served their country with honor. We need Congress to provide services to our veterans now that they are home.”
