Shop Locally on Small Business Saturday

Event Date and Time

Small businesses are the lifeblood of our communities.

Patronizing small businesses supports the local economy and keeps our neighborhoods thriving. That's why my family and I are joining millions of Americans on Small Business Saturday (November 30) by shopping at our local small businesses. Participating in Small Business Saturday helps create more jobs, support the economy and invigorate the community.

Additionally, my colleagues in the Legislature and I have taken steps this year to improve the business climate for local employers. These efforts included:

  • Improving hiring credits for employers
  • Adding incentives for employers to hire veterans and people who have been jobless for over six months
  • Ensuring companies statewide that purchase equipment for manufacturing, processing, refining, or recycling will not have to pay state sales tax on those purchases beginning in July 2014
  • Voting to permanently cut the processing time for the Secretary of State to process business filings from over 60 days to no more than five days

Contact my district office at (415) 479-4920 for more information and to learn how you can support small businesses in our community.

Event Date and Time

Do you have questions, concerns, or suggestions about your state government?

Many people have very busy schedules and may have difficulty reaching me during regular business hours. As your Assemblymember, I deeply value input from community members and believe it is important to make myself available to you in your community to hear your concerns.

For that reason, I am holding neighborhood office hours. I will be available to meet to discuss issues of concern, answer questions, and take suggestions about your state government. I encourage all members of the community to drop by. No appointment is necessary.
