__SALUTATION__
It was incredible to spend my summer recess in Assembly District 10. Over the last four weeks, I was able to be out and about to attend the community events. I am proud to represent the cities of Elk Grove and Sacramento and all it has to offer.
In this update:
Sincerely,
Stephanie Nguyen
Assemblymember, District 10
Mobile District Offices
Please join us for a Mobile District Office in your neighborhood. My staff can help you with state agencies and connect you with the numerous resources in our community.
Summer Internship
This summer, we had the opportunity to host some fantastic interns who helped us with district events and provided our team with insight through the eyes of youth. Who better to help you understand today's youth than the youth themselves? Ethan Link, Grayson Link, Jenny Ng, Makena Lue, and Byron Lue, thank you for your hard work.
Out and About in District 10
I had the opportunity to tour the Revere Court Memory Care. With 3.5 acres of a secured park-like setting, this community ensures its residents enjoy their independence and quality of life. In addition to their services, they offer karaoke hour, one of my favorite things to do! Finally, I presented a certificate of recognition to a stellar employee celebrating her milestone of over 20 years, Sunila Devi!
Our Teen Job Fair was a huge hit! Seeing over a hundred youth members come out to find job and internship opportunities was fulfilling. Thank you to all our vendors, from corporate to fast food to real estate to education
County Supervisor Pat Hume gave his first State of the County for his district, which overlaps District 10. Previously, we both served on the Elk Grove City Council together before assuming our new roles. It was great to hear about the accomplishments of 2022 and the upcoming visions for 2023 and beyond.
The Grand Opening of Oasis Recreation Center in Elk Grove will include a preschool, custom art sculpture, and water features, and it is the only park in Elk Grove with lighted basketball courts! As a former preschool teacher, I was honored to attend the center's opening.
I look forward to National Night Out every year! National Night Out was every night as a kid because I spent all my time outside until the sun went down. Team Nguyen was able to visit over 30 locations in District 10.
It was an honor to present this resolution to Eric Hirata, who has dedicated his life to the community. He has spent his career making a significant impact throughout the state, protecting California youth from underage drinking, highways from intoxicated and impaired drivers, and more. Congratulations, Eric Hirata, on your retirement from Alcoholic Beverage Control after a distinguished 30-year career!
As schools began to resume, we had the opportunity to participate in a backpack distribution at Asian Resources Inc., where over 500 backpacks were distributed to families from the Sacramento Unified School District. It was great to be back home!
What an honor to be a part of the Arnold J. Adreani Park Grand Opening. Dr. Arnold "Arnie" Adreani, also known as Dr. A, spent three decades as a principal in the Elk Grove Unified School District, positively impacting many people's lives. Enjoy and explore the wonders of this park!
Thank you to all those who dropped by for our first Coffee with the Community! It was great to run into so many constituents and make new friends. Look for our next Coffee with the Community!
Indus Valley American Chamber of Commerce sure knows how to throw a celebration! The homemade food was excellent. I was honored to provide Certificates of Recognition to these dedicated volunteers with IVACC. Thank you for being so committed to the community!
Josh's Heart Inc. was put together to honor Josh, son of Don and Dawn, who lost his battle due to alcoholism. This one-day event provided resources like dental care, vision exams, health screenings, showers, food, and other services to help the homeless community. Thank you for your continuous support and efforts in the community!
The Eskaton Care Center started as a church 50 years ago and is now a non-profit that provides various services, including but not limited to a 148-bed facility, skilled nurses, low-income senior housing, and home health. Their philosophy, "bring outside in," entails much more this center offers than just a care center.
I'm ending my summer recess by sending my kids off to their first day back at school! Hana starts 3rd grade, and Lana starts 8th grade.
Touring Industries in District 10
International Paper celebrated their 125 years, and I had the chance to tour the Elk Grove facility, where I learned that they have been one of the world's leading producers of fiber-based, renewable products. They transform renewable resources into products people depend on every day. See a package or box; look for the International Paper logo!
Home Depot was founded in 1978, and in California they have 233 stores, the state with the most locations. If you like doing DIY projects at home as I do, Home Depot is a one-stop shop for everything DIY! During the tour, I saw how paint gets mixed to its final color
Thank you to Ken Mitchell of Sacramento County Farm Bureau for a very educational LegislaTOUR. Sacramento County Farm Bureau was founded in 1917 by a small group of local farmers to solve problems related to farms, farm homes, and rural communities. They work hard to produce high-quality products while overcoming various obstacles.
